Because you matter to us we're dedicated to providing information and support, not just for your surgery or condition, but for your long term health. You matter. Your life matters. Your family matters. We want to make sure you live the best life possible. Teaching, promoting and preserving life-long health for each of our members is very important to us at BreastHealthOnline.
All version of the Healing Diet are based on the same goals, and the tenets learned extend beyond your recovery. One could follow the Healing Diet indefinitely, and in fact many of our members do just that.
There are some fantastic resources out there today for making big changes in your life. It is not hopeless, and contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be a prisoner of an unhealthy diet forever. There is another way.

You CAN not only change the way you eat, but you can also really ENJOY your food when you do make changes.
We hear people say, 'I used to only be able to eat 2 or 3 salads a month and then I'd get sick of them. You helped me change that and now I crave them."
Many of us eat due to stress and our resistance to 'giving up foods' is really more about stress than the actual food. One book we recommend is Geneen Roth's Women, Food and God. It will help you use your eating habits as a window to what's really wrong, whether you believe in God, a higher self or just yourself, Geneen's work is ground breaking.
Here's a revealing story from one of our members. "I ordered the book and it came lightening fast from Amazon.com. I was excited to get it, but once the box was in my hands I did something I never could have predicted. Innately realizing I was 'about to lose eating what I wanted', I picked up the box, didn't look at it, held it away from my body, dropped it off on the kitchen table completely unopened, and proceeded immediately to the refrigerator where I fixed myself something, ran off to my office and closed the door behind me. Ummm yeah. I had to laugh at myself. I clearly wasn't quite ready to have someone tell me what not to eat!"
But, it's not really about that. It's about your relationship with food and your life. Geneen's website and seminars are awesome. If you can grasp the concept that when you run away with a chocolate sundae, or whatever your thing is, drive home after work being destroyed from working too hard with a pain in the neck boss and you go straight to McDonalds, it's not entirely about being hungry, because if it was, that banana and apple you brought with you to eat on the way home would work fine.
It's about soothing that thing you're feeling. If, instead, you let that feeling be the door to what's wrong, you can finally address it once and for all. You don't have to give up McDonalds. Instead, you'll find you just don't NEED it anymore. Once you let the feeling show you what's really wrong, there actually isn't any pain in the transition. The problem just goes away.
