Hi All,

It's been just over 4 weeks since my op.
Everything went well - apparently I am a model patient ! - and with the snow it really made me stop and rest for the two weeks
First week back at work was hard -sitting upright all day - and I needed to take some pain killers, but it's got easier over time.

I've been wearing support tops and Saturday I went bra shopping for the first time.
I was a 34 G before - but ended up with a 36 E sports bra.
Was expecting to be smaller as I had over 750g removed from each one
Are Sports bra cups different from normal bras - or am I still swollen ?

Anyone know when I can start buying nice bras again - got a trip planned to London in March - but is this too early ?

You're still swollen! Four weeks is very early, so don't waste time and money buying bras now. Don't agonise over cup-letters just yet either, just wear what feels comfortable and wait a couple of months. I know it's hard! There will be changes to come in your healing process.

I didn't really know what size and shape I would be for more than six months, and I made a lot of mad and bad clothes purchases in the early days that I ended up never wearing.

Keep resting now and DON'T fret about your size!

Congrats to you!!!

I am a 34G, my BR is 8wks today.  Pleading for a 34C!!!!  I don't know about bras but when I look at 34C sports bras for the hospital I jsut know there's no way it would fit me and be comfortable, they look tiny, think I'll buy bigger sizes

I picked up a great post op sports bra in Primark today (and it's girly pink)  It is actually a low impact bra for yoga, but this bra I think would be perfect for right after surgery.  It was only £4 too!!!!  I bought one pink and one white.  I think they would be perfect.  This brings my total bras for directly after surgery to 9 (just because I don't know which one will fit best !!!!) lol.

The M&S pack of two bra's is by far the most soft and comfortable. I had to stitch shoulder straps though as too long. If you get the bra's with the little diamond air hole patterns cut out under the bust when your boobies swell you end up with the pattern on your skin, where as the M&S ones are plain cups. Also get a bra extender if you have not got one already.

Susie, what back size did you buy in M&S sports 2 pack.  I too am a 32 inch back, but what size should I buy for after surgery - would a 34 or 36 D be suitable to accommodate swelling.  Thanks a lot

32HH - hoping for a 32D/DD Jan 23rd

Hi,

I got 34d for right after surgery. Pre op I wore 32ff. I needed the 32 band or the back just slid right up my back with the weight of my boobs.
The first couple of weeks the 34d was ok in the morning but felt fairly tight by tea time so I would change into a 36c I had from Matalan. ( nowhere near as comfy) I now have a bra extender in my bag so if I feel that the bra I am wearing is to tight I just pop that it and extend it a little. I did not feel swollen in the body but in the first couple of days my old 32ff's came nowhere near fastening around my back. I seemed to have settled a bit now and I got the same M&S bra in a 34c.

Hi everyone,

Had my op 3 week ago and went from a 34G to what I hope will be a 34D.  Had to buy a bra as went back to work on Monday.  After MUCH trying on last weekend, I eventually bought a maximum support sports bra from BHS in a 36DD.  Although maximum support, it is very soft material and the band under the breasts is not hard, unlike some of the others I tried on and has been pretty comfortable to wear.  Can't wait to go pretty bra shopping though, roll on April/May!!
